Part I {In which there is much backstory, a chance meeting, and a mysterious warning.}

Once upon a time, in a land not so far from here called Henesys, there lived a young boy whose life’s ambition was to become a Hero. The boy had an unusual name, and whenever he was introduced to someone new, they would always hear the same story. He had repeated this anecdote so many times, it came as naturally to him as “good, and you?” comes after a friend asks how you are doing. “My mom said I popped out right out of her womb and said “o ty poopas” to the doctor, who just happened to be a Poison Poopa.”

Congratulations, it’s a– Wow, that is one ugly baby…

And so, with his parents taking that to be a sign that their newborn child was a prodigy, bestowed what may soon prove to be the child’s greatest gift upon him: his name, Thanks Pappas.

Thanks led quite an uneventful childhood. Traveling to school every day to fill his brain with all sorts of syntax structures and complex algorithms, and coming home every night to help his parents on the family seed farm. “Well, someone has to collect them so someone else far more adventurous and brave can save the Moon Bunny!” his father always said. Thanks wasn’t exactly the most popular kid in class, but he and the the few friends he had were inseparable. He and his friends Bryan and Sunset would spend hours together, pretending to be nimble archers that could take down a mighty dragon with a single arrow or powerful spell casters adorned billowing robes of gold and black. “That really will be me someday,” Thanks would mumble to himself many times during recesses in Mushroom Park. He would sometimes sit alone on the grassy steps by the fountain for hours, fantasizing about the magical lands that lay just out of his reach, beyond the edges of the village. Lands that were filled with giant golems and vicious sharks ready for the slaying. He had been inspired by an old woman who visited Henesys long ago. He had first seen her one fateful day, wandering around outside the Free Market entrance, discreetly asking passers-by if they had gardening equipment for sale.

Do you have a pot to sell me, little one?

Even at the tender age of 5 years and 3 months, he was already concerning himself with the welfare of others in the community. He approached the lady and said in a squeaky voice, “Excuse me, miss. I haven’t seen you ar-” he started. “Oh greetings, little boy! What’s your name?” the old woman said hoarsely. Thanks could tell that her voice bore the marks of years of wisdom. “Say, do you have any pots? That would really help me out. It’s for uh… Bung’s mama…” she whispered in an undertone. “Erm no, sorry,” Thanks replied. “Oh… That’s ok. Hey kid, listen. Don’t end up like me. Make something of yourself. You can be somebody. Imagine people all over Victoria Island raising their glasses and speaking your name! You can be a hero, little- Oh!” At this point, another villager walked by, and the old woman hobbled away to catch his attention, no doubt interrogating him over the last known whereabouts of his potted begonias.

A hero… I like the sound of that, Thanks thought to himself. And with those thoughts floating around in his consciousness, he wandered home, barely noticing that a patch of grass that had nothing but a few wildflowers and butterflies that very morning now had been overshadowed by a gaudy sign staked into it.

So today, I deleted Sniper (*tear*) and created a Hero, named Thanks. There are still about 200+ APs to spend, so whoever feels like clicking can add the rest to STR.

Bryan, thank you for thinking of me so much with the Bishop.  I’m finally moved back from school, and I have tomorrow off work, so hopefully I can get a bit of time in.  I’ll edit this post after I get to play tomorrow.

Well, I disproved my whole theory of spending 2nd and 3rd job SP on 4th job skills. You can only spend the amount of SP gained from levels 120-162 on fourth job skills. So, again, a lot of what I’ve posted in the two previous posts is wrong. I’m leaving it all up, anyway.

So I went on Tespia for the first time and made stuff explode and whatnot. Nothing major but you get to hear about it anyway, mmk? First I went on Sunset and I went a little nuts with some of the skills but it was fun. I rearranged some of the key configurations and I was going to put them back but I couldn’t get it right… I don’t know if it really matters though. That was probably the most annoying thing, trying to figure out a completely new configuration on each character. Anyway, at HHG I found an ice mage with an oddly familiar name and stalked him for a bit. Yeah. Theennnn I went on Sniper and got lost in Showa and for some reason I couldn’t find my way back to the mob hideout place, but I did find a fancy new hat. I’m so lost with all of this but the exploding is fun.

This post probably renders everything in the previous post null and void, but I’ll leave it up just in case you want to read it. I kind of have a lot to write in this post, which is why I’m not just editing the previous one.

I was playing on Sunset, pissing off everyone in Henesys Hunting Ground with my super cool GENESIS when I saw a girl with both Bahamut and Elquines. I was interested, so I asked her about it. She said that all she did was “change jobs”. Good idear! Although I still have no idea how she has two jobs at once, I did discover that you can change your fourth job (as long as it’s under the magician umbrella; don’t go changing the bishop into a paladin plox) as much as you want!

When you do this, your second, third, and fourth job skill points will all be reset back to zero. Don’t worry about this, you can always ask Cody for more, remember? (That’s why this post invalidates most of what I said in the last post–we can just use second and third job SP on fourth job stuff now.)

So anyway, Sunset is currently in Fire/Poison Arch Mage mode. I was going to change it back to Bishop before I logged off, but since I know Sunny is best suited for deciding which skills are not necessary, I figured I’d just let her change it. Now that I look back on this decision, I feel lazy and selfish. (Here’s a bunch of tedious work to do, Sunny, I’m going to bed. Good luck dollface!)

To Sunny: (Hay dollface!) To change it back to Bishop, just go to Cody and make the fourth job advancement as Bishop (obviously). Don’t forget to click Learn 4th Job Skills again, after that. Then you can just distribute all the SP you want into whatever you want. (Refer to my previous post about not investing in useless skills/skills we won’t be using at all in fourth job. I imagine we won’t need heal either, since we have a neverending supply of power elixirs.)

I tried to write this in a way in which it would be directed to everyone, but instead I’m just going to direct it to Sunny, since she started the Bishop and will most likely finish it. If you’re not Sunny… pretend you are when reading this.

I restarted the Bishop, and tried to recreate its original image, the way you did. I went to Maple Island and got the relaxer, then I started making her a bishop with Cody.

While distributing AP, I made the mistake of thinking: “Hey, I know LUK is always supposed to be three more than your level, so I guess I’ll just keep pumping the points into it until it’s 164.” I caught myself at 158. But before leveling, I had Cody give me the basic AP of a level 70 magician, so she basically had the AP of a level 70 magician, but at level 7, and all the AP gained from each level was still being given. In other words, up to level 70, it had double the normal AP, and all the extra AP went into INT. So the extra LUK isn’t as much of a waste as it sounds (though it’s still a waste).

On to SP.

This is kind of annoying, and a little complicated, so I’ll try to convey what I’m thinking as clearly as I can.

You know that once you finish leveling to 161, Cody can give you as much SP as you want. So you can max every skill, right? No. Wrong. He’ll give you as much as you want, but you can only spend as much as you would’ve normally accumulated. So there’s no way you can max every fourth job skill there is, because you’d have to be level 200 do to that. (I ran into this problem on the Shadower, too.) So I came up with a little theory that may or may not work, and assuming you know more about the Bishop, I’d rather you spend the SP on the rest of the fourth job skills I haven’t already maxed. I’ve already maxed Bahamut, Genesis, Angel Ray, and Big Bang, and I’ve put one point into Resurrection. Anyway, here’s my little theory:

I figure that if you don’t spend points on certain third job skills that aren’t even going to be used, those points can instead be used on fourth job skills, thus allowing us to have more points in the more fun techniques that we’ll all be using more often. (I only thought of this after I had maxed every second job skill except Holy Arrow.) So this is where I am hoping to rely on your knowledge of Priestdom. If you can decide which third job skills really won’t be necessary as a Bishop, then you can invest those points that would normally be used in third job on fourth job skills. There are certain fourth job skills that I really am not sure whether or not we will want or need, so I am hoping you can make the executive decision on those skills.

This was pretty redundant and superfluous, eh? Let me know if something needs clearing up.

I found out about the Showa hair thing the hard way sadly.

didn’t do much but check stuff out, I did some of the kitty quest you’re up to boss cat wanting 300 fried chickens and wanting to ask you questions.

I also transfered some arrows to the markwoman from the bandit so I think I might have left some pots from storage on the shadower.

And I may have brought a green paintbrush from NPC. =P

Marksman

I was playing the Shadower, and I asked a girl if I could have the Dark Raven that dropped, so I got it. So the marksman has a good crossbow now.

UPDATE: There’s an ugly but high-level bowman helmet in storage.

Showa

I also reported a bug, so hopefully we’ll have better chances of being picked next time too. Just don’t scroll through the Showa VIP female hairs, right between Polly and Candy Heart is a… purgatory? It’s just nothingness. You get disconnected as soon as you get between those two hairstyles.

Shadower

Also, the same person that gave me the crossbow gave me a kandine, so the Shadower isn’t so horribly weak anymore. And I got a green canal hood for him, but I still like the pirate hat better.

UPDATE: We now have a Dragon Tail. !aiee

I’ll just give a brief description of what I did to not mess up this time, I suppose…

• Advance through all four jobs at level 7
• Click Setup SP and choose level 70 for whatever job you’re working on
• Learn all fourth job skills
• Get all fourth job books (duplicates are good in case the first ones fail)
• Start leveling!
• DO NOT collect any extra SP until after you’re level 161–you won’t need it

Once you start leveling, you can add all the points you want into whatever you want, but it’s probably a good idea to just stick with a normal build, as if you weren’t on Tespia (at least until you’re level 161).

Every time you reach the maximum AP, you’re just going to have to pump it all in to the stats you need. It takes a while, but it’s worth it.

I’m sure some of this doesn’t make sense, so let me know if something is unclear, I’ll try to reword it or something.

And unfortunately my screenie button isn’t working, so I don’t have any cool screenies.

I arranged all the attacks very sloppily, so feel free to change it to your liking when you play.

And last but not least… I have good news and bad news. The good news: I found a dark pirate hat. It’s pretty cool. Bad news: I got foil perm with the Orbis hair coupon. BAAAWWW!!!
